In 2018, LogistiCare won the tender to operate and co-manage with Israel Ports Ltd. the granary (grain and seeds storage facility) at Ashdod Port, which is one of the most important port services available to grain and seed importers. The granary spans around about 28 dunams and has a capacity of 60 thousand tons. The services given in the granary include receipt, storage, and distribution to plants and bakeries.
In 2022, the construction of a new 2.2km grain conveyor was completed, which is a strategic project that connects Platform 21 in Ashdod Port with the granary. We are in charge of the conveyor’s operation, which will allow increasing the granary’s capacity and increasing grain and seeds imports via Ashdod Port. The new conveyor shall replace the existing offloading method that is based on using hundreds of trucks. Its operation is expected to significantly streamline the loading and unloading of grains and seeds, reduce truck traffic and air pollution, and, of course, increase service quality to importers.
